HOUSTON — Almost exactly a year after opening a luxury pickleball facility in a prominent Midtown building, the team behind Houston-based Maven Coffee + Cocktails has shuttered the concept, which included a restaurant, bar and patio.
Solarium, which opened last April in the space once occupied by Holman Draft Hall at 820 Holman St., recently posted on its Instagram account that it was permanently closed.
While the exact date of the closure is not clear, Solarium’s last social media posts were in February.
Rex Hospitality, which was co-founded by Houston Astros pitcher Lance McCullers Jr. and other high-profile business partners, converted the 9,000-square-foot space at 820 Holman St. into a multilevel, sports-inspired lounge centered upon pickleball.
To open the club, Rex Hospitality worked with the Houston-based Kirby Group, which specializes in owning and operating high-end restaurant and bar concepts. The Kirby Group owned Holman Draft Hall, which operated in the space for seven years.
