A showdown between an army of Daniel Cormiers and one gorilla is a battle that has divided the former two-weight UFC champion and a fellow MMA icon.
Over the last week, the conversation of how many men it would take to overcome the fearsome primate has engrossed the internet, with seemingly everyone getting involved to voice their opinion.
However, while many refuse to believe a group of normal men would have a shot against a gorilla, ‘DC’ certainly isn’t your average man.
With such tremendous fighting heart, it’s fair to say 100 versions of him would have a far higher chance than any unskilled individuals.
WOW: Daniel Cormier clashed with Khabib Nurmagomedov and Islam Makhachev in heated argument
Ben Askren thinks 100 Daniel Cormiers could beat a gorilla
With the debate catching fire across the globe, Ben Askren couldn’t wait to talk to Daniel Cormier all about it.
However, the pair had vastly different opinions on how 100 men vs one gorilla would go down.
During an episode of Funky and the Champ, Askren exclaimed: “I’m so excited. There’s this thing online, 100 men vs a gorilla.”
Finding the whole thing ridiculous, Cormier told his friend to: “Stop.”
Regardless, Askren surmised: “Everyone is neglecting cardio here. Even dangerous human beings who have trained for this, get tired. I was just doing the math.
“If a gorilla can kill a human in 15 seconds, 100 humans, that’s 1500 seconds, that’s like 25 minutes. Can a gorilla really fight hard for 25 minutes? No, that gorilla can’t fight hard for 25 minutes.”
Taking an opposing view, the UFC Hall of Famer asserted: “Every time they’re running at him, he’s like, bang, bang, bang. 100 men have no chance. It will not take 25 minutes. First off, he’s biting, he’s scratching, and he’s slapping the s— out of you.”
Getting tactical, the former Bellator welterweight champion, pitched: “What if you just run at him, fake, and then run away, and then someone else runs, so he’s always moving, and everyone just evades him, but they’re antagonising him?”
This prompted Cormier to point out: “I watched Khabib Nurmagomedov wrestle a bear, and the bear was getting him.”
This did nothing to sway Askren’s opinion, with the American stating: “I saw Khabib pin that bear, to which Cormier fired back: “Yes, but it’s a hard match.”
At this point, the former 170-pounder, switched the question, asking the former UFC heavyweight King: “How about 100 Daniel Cormiers vs a gorilla?”
Showcasing a surprising lack of confidence, the legend conceded: “I’m getting my a– kicked over and over again.”
Exhibiting faith in his buddy, Askren enthused: “Come on, dude, I believe in you.”
Coming towards the end of his tether, Cormier raged: “You guys have no idea, it’s like the most ridiculous idea of all time. I can’t believe we’re having this discussion on our show. I’m done with this conversation.”
Refusing to back down, ‘Funky’ beamed: “One hundred Daniel Cormiers are beating a gorilla, I’m putting my house on that.”
Officially finished with the topic, Cormier fumed: “Shut up, Ben.”
While the powerhouse isn’t convinced he’d fare very well against a gorilla, if Cormier got as angry as he did when Khabib Nurmagomedov pranked him, then perhaps he’d have a chance.
How many Eddie Halls does it take to stop one gorilla?
While Cormier isn’t overly convinced of his chances against a gorilla, Eddie Hall has a great deal of self-belief.
Although he’s not quite as lethal as the wild animal, the 2017 World’s Strongest Man is undoubtedly one of the most powerful men on Earth.
And having just destroyed Mariusz Pudzianowski inside the very first round at KSW 105, he’s riding a wave of momentum.
Now, the icon has said how many Eddie Halls he thinks it would take to beat a gorilla.
