TOKYO- A disturbing incident occurred on a Delta Air Lines (DL) flight from Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) to Tokyo, where a male passenger was found exposing himself to nearby travelers.
The situation involved a family with young children seated in Delta One class.
Flight attendants eventually intervened after multiple complaints, though concerns have been raised about the handling of the incident and the passenger’s reported high status with Delta.
The airline has conducted a follow-up wellness check but provided limited information regarding the consequences for the exhibitionist behavior.

Delta Passenger Sits Without Pants
The incident began several hours into the trans-Pacific journey when a mother returning from the lavatory with her 15-month-old daughter discovered the male passenger across the aisle had removed his pants entirely.
According to firsthand accounts, the man had been served multiple alcoholic beverages—approximately 6-7 glasses of wine—before the incident.
Upon discovery, flight attendants made multiple attempts to address the situation, eventually threatening diversion to Alaska, where the passenger would face arrest. Only then did the man comply by retrieving his pants from an overhead compartment. Witnesses reported that the passenger appeared visibly intoxicated throughout the ordeal.
Airline Response Protocol
Delta’s handling of the situation has drawn criticism from the affected family. While flight attendants initially confronted the passenger firmly, witnesses noted that once the immediate situation was resolved, crew members appeared to adopt a more cordial approach toward the individual, whom they allegedly identified as having high-status with the airline.
Following standard protocol, flight attendants documented the incident. However, the passenger was permitted to disembark in Tokyo without apparent consequences.
Delta’s subsequent communication with the affected family included a wellness check but limited transparency regarding disciplinary actions, citing confidentiality policies.
The above-mentioned story was shared by a woman passenger on Reddit, and it has attracted many comments from fellow members.
One user wrote, “It shouldn’t matter if you have a high status with the airline or not, exposing yourself to minors should be a reason for arrest. I’m shocked they didn’t land the plane and immediately have him arrested.”
Similarly, another said, “Exposing yourself to ANYONE is not OK and should be a reason for arrest.”
A possible Delta employee wrote, “As a DL employee, this is unacceptable and deplorable. Do not let this go. Do not move on. This passenger needs to be banned. I am deeply sorry this happened to you and your family.”

A Lufthansa flight from Munich to Sofia experienced significant disruption when a 27-year-old female passenger began removing her clothing onboard, leading to a three-hour delay. Flight LH1704, scheduled to depart Munich International Airport at 16:00 local time on June 23, 2023, returned to the gate shortly after boarding when the situation escalated.
Airport authorities immediately summoned police officers to the Airbus A320 aircraft when the woman started undressing and screaming in the cabin. German media outlet NTV reported that despite intervention, the passenger remained uncooperative and refused to cover herself.
Police attempted to restore order by wrapping a blanket around the disruptive passenger to provide privacy. The situation worsened when the woman bit one officer on the left forearm during the intervention.
Following the bite, officers employed “immediate coercion” measures to remove the passenger from the aircraft. Authorities subsequently transported the woman to a local hospital under state police supervision.
