DENVER (KDVR) — Denver may see some severe storms Saturday afternoon, with potential damaging wind gusts and large hail in the Interstate 25 corridor, according to the Pinpoint Weather Team.
A Pinpoint Weather Alert Day has been issued for the Denver metro area for these severe storms, which could ruin weekend plans or activities.
Denver itself is under a marginal severe risk, with much of the eastern plains under either a slight and enhanced risk.
These storms could bring with them large hail, strong winds and isolated tornadoes.
The worst of the storm will likely stay east, Perez said, with isolated tornadoes possible in that area.
When will the weather hit?
Pinpoint Weather Meteorologist Greg Perez said the storms will hit the metro area between 1 and 4 p.m.
The storms will hit the eastern plains between 2 and 7 p.m.
After 7 p.m., things should calm down along the plains, with some lingering showers possible in the metro area, but by that point the worst of it should be over.
Impact
Hail and damaging wind gusts are the main threat for the metro area, Perez said.
With the storm hitting around 1 p.m., people should take precautions in the first half of the day to mitigate any problems that could arise from the storm.
However, the eastern plains will likely see the worst of it, and isolated tornadoes and 2+ inch hail could be seen.
