Better Late than NeverMajor DFW Expansions Also Underway

It looks like the construction of a much anticipated private, luxury terminal at DFW Airport is finally moving along.

Some $4 million of work on a 15,517-square-foot space is set to begin on Jan. 6, with a completion date of Jan. 31, according to a recent filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.

The private suite “PS at DFW” will offer commercial passengers white-glove service in a new facility, where those who can afford it can avoid the stress and chaos that’s characteristic of modern air travel. While PS boasts a high-end luxury experience with all the trimmings (think gourmet refreshments and spa services), its most attractive features may be the private TSA screening and chauffeuring to the tarmac.

The firm handling January’s sprint is Arlington’s Clark Design Co. The tenant listed on the TDLR filing is commercial real estate project manager Andrea Casalboni.

Once completed, the luxury terminal will feature private suites and a lounge that will “reflect the uniqueness of Dallas and Fort Worth, blending western heritage with modern, cosmopolitan sensibilities,” PS said, according to Dallas Business Journal.

PS offers all-access annual memberships and per-use rates. For a one-day member, the Private Suite experience is $4,850 one-way for up to four travelers. Each additional traveler is $800.

Better Late than Never

Initial reports suggested PS at DFW would be up and running by the spring of 2024 after the airport’s board of directors signed off on the addition in March of the previous year, approving a 10-year lease agreement. It is unclear what led to the delay. Perhaps unrelatedly, the company was acquired by Paris-based airport operator Groupe ADP this past August.

CandysDirt.com reached out to a number of stakeholders about the status of the project. They either said there were no updates to share or did not respond.

PS currently operates luxury terminals at Los Angeles International Airport and Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. In addition to DFW, it’s planning a build at Miami International Airport. Membership fees can run in the thousands for an annual pass.

Major DFW Expansions Also Underway

PS at DFW is not the only addition afoot. Tuesday marked the beginning of construction on Terminal F, which will be the airport’s sixth terminal upon completion. The new terminal — comprising 15 gates and spanning 400,000 square feet — is part of a $4.8 billion expansion that will play out over the next decade.

Terminal E will be getting an expanded footprint to facilitate the integration of Terminal F since the latter will not include its own designated security checkpoint or baggage claim. The terminals will be connected by Skylink, but passengers will need to enter via Terminal E.

Renovations are also underway in Terminal C, and a planned expansion of Terminal A is on the books.

“We know construction will bring impacts to our customers, but we’re doing all we can to mitigate these impacts by being thoughtful about our phasing and communicating with travelers along the way,” said DFW Airport CEO Sean Donahue, per Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

Terminal F may open as soon as 2027.
