Kelly Hanson and Jose Cedeno explore thrilling rides at Knott’s Berry Farm, perfume making and much more! Sponsored by Visit Buena Park.
SEATTLE — Five miles away from Disneyland and 20 miles from Los Angeles is a travel destination like no other — Buena Park. First timers Kelly Hanson and Jose Cedeno got to experience everything the area had to offer.
Their first stop was Knott’s Berry Farm.
“Knott’s Berry Farm is California’s original and first theme park. It started over 100 years ago as a farm with Walter and Cordelia Knott, and over the years it has expanded to what we have here today,” said Christopher Do from Knott’s Berry Farm. “You walk in the gates, and you see this wonderful roller coaster, Silver Bullet but then if you take a right, you’re going to be over in Camp Snoopy, which is, of course, celebrating all things Peanuts.”
In the park’s Fiesta Village, they celebrate all things Mexican and Hispanic culture including restaurants like Casa California, where you can build bowls and burritos.
“Head over to Boardwalk, where there’s this wonderful ’50s beachside theme and some amazing roller coasters,” Do said.
Then there’s Ghost Town that looks like it’s straight out of the Old West. You can even pan for gold!
If you’re hungry, you have to try the iconic Knott’s Chicken Restaurant.
“You just have a little bit of everything for everybody at Knott’s Berry Farm. Whether you’re a kid or an adult,” Do said.
Buena Park is also home to the United States’ only luxury perfume shop, Daniel’s Truth. Check out the 90-minute hands-on experience and then the award-winning dining options, with more than 90 diverse restaurants, from trendy barbecue to the flavors of Koreatown.
To round out the trip, Kelly and Jose visited the popular spooky nightspot, The Cauldron.
“I like to think of it as a cozy place that you can come and everyone’s welcome. It’s great food, great cocktails, spooky kind of fun with a theme. I think it’s a little haunted,” said Laura Carnarvon, owner of The Cauldron.
