Boston College football held their annual summer recruiting BBQ on Thursday last week, and it has already reaped huge dividends for Bill O’Brien and his staff. With loads of recruits on campus, some coming from as far as New Jersey, the Eagles landed a pair of commitments starting with Williston Northampton ’26 OL Dean Ruksnaitis anouncing his commitment. That good news was quickly followed up with even more good news ’26 Catholic Memorial defensive lineman Mac Fitzgerald pledging to the Eagles. The rising junior is the son of new BC strength and conditioning coach Craig Fitzgerald.
In addition to the BBQ, Boston College held a number of camps last month that led to a handful of new offers and commitments. The Eagles added ’26 quarterback Corin Berry shortly after the staff got to watch him throw at a camp. He was a target the staff was very excited about, even though he had some difficulties as a sophomore with a low TD/INT rate. However, during camps/7v7’s this summer Berry was the talk of the town, leading his team to multiple top spots.
This is in addition to the work that men’s basketball has done under Earl Grant. The Eagles landed one of the school’s highest rated recruits in Akbar Waheed, a four star guard out of Maryland. They also added big man Jack Bailey out of New Jersey, and are one of the finalists for one of the hottest recruits in the Class of ’25, Florida guard Matthew Able.
