A cold snap has forced delays in Colorado schools and businesses due to icy roads and frigid temperatures.
DENVER — Dozens of schools and businesses delayed their openings on Monday after snow and below-freezing temperatures left a mess on Colorado’s roads.
Aurora Public Schools, Platte Canyon District 1, Thompson School District R2-J, Weld RE-4 School District, Limon Public Schools, and Kiowa C-2 were among the districts on delayed start Monday morning.

A Cold Weather Advisory was in place for Denver, the northern Front Range and Colorado’s eastern plains until 9 a.m. Monday for wind chills in the -10 to -22 degree range.
After three days of below-freezing temperatures and a fresh round of snow on Sunday, skies will clear out on Monday for a warm-up in Colorado. The sunshine and milder temperatures this afternoon should lead to melting in the Denver area with highs in the 40s on Monday.
After 90 consecutive hours below freezing, the sun will break the spell around 11 a.m. Monday. It first dropped below freezing in Denver on Thursday at 4:30 p.m.
The rest of the week will include warmer temperatures, lots of sunshine, and high temperatures in the 40s and 50s.
