Penix and London did not play in Sunday’s loss to the Miami Dolphins.
The Atlanta Falcons added insult to injury during Sunday’s 34-10 loss to the Miami Dolphins. After entering the game without starting quarterback Michael Penix Jr. and No. 1 wide receiver Drake London, the Falcons were humiliated at home by a previously 1-6 Dolphins team.
Penix was held out of Week 8 due to a bone bruise on his knee, while London was a late scratch due to a hip injury he suffered at Friday’s practice. Falcons safety Jessie Bates III exited Sunday’s game in the second half with an ankle injury and did not return.
Head coach Raheem Morris said Bates’ injury is not serious and that both London and Penix are day-to-day.
“No it’s not a serious injury, so it’ll be one of those day-to-day things so we’ll kind of be in a wait-and-see mode,” Morris said of Bates. “And realistically, that’s just about everybody else as well. Michael Penix, Drake London, Zach Harrison, all of those guys are kind of in a wait-and-see mode.”
When asked about edge Jalon Walker, Morris said the rookie could return in Week 9. “Potentially getting [Walker] back this week, along with Billy [Bowman Jr.],” added Morris.
The Falcons will face the New England Patriots on the road in Week 9. The Patriots are 6-2 and currently lead the AFC East. Atlanta has gone 1-2 on the road this season, and 1-1 against the AFC East. Back in Week 6, the Falcons defeated the Buffalo Bills on Monday Night Football.
