On the menu
Shaghf Cafe’s menu boasts more than 60 drink combinations as well as desserts, including tarts, cakes and Dubai chocolate with shredded kunafa, said Ahmed Syed, partner in AMO Texas Cafe LLC, which owns the Sugar Land location.
Drinks vary from Arabic-style coffee and frappuccinos to specialty non-caffeinated items, such as the Lemon Breeze Strawberry beverage, Syed said. Popular drinks include the pistachio frappe, which blends pistachio-flavored syrup, milk and ice, and tops it with whipped cream and crushed pistachios.
The details
The large, more than 4,000-square-foot space allows for what Syed called a “luxury” and “upscale” atmosphere, where customers can lounge on comfortable seating, have work meetings or gather with friends and family.
Shaghf Cafe officials picked Sugar Land for its first Texas location due to the community support and large space, Syed said.
“The thing that stands out about this cafe and this particular brand is even in Dubai, they don’t have this bigger space,” he said. “So everything’s supposed to be big in Texas, and this is what we have. It’s a nice, upscale, luxury space, and I’m pretty sure all of my customers will like to spend some time here.”
What else?
Syed said the business will have the following limited hours for its soft opening week:
- Thursday, April 17: 6-11 p.m.
- Friday, April 18: 3 p.m.-1 a.m.
- Saturday, April 19: 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
- Sunday, April 20: 9 a.m.-11 p.m.
Then the business will open for normal business hours 8 a.m.-11 p.m. A grand opening for the Sugar Land location is scheduled for the end of April, joining 10 other locations in the U.S. and about 140 worldwide, Syed said.
