Ennis, Texas, is about to experience a significant boost to its local economy with the announcement that Loloi, Inc., a Dallas-based textile brand leader, is constructing a massive distribution facility in the area. According to Governor Greg Abbott’s office, the over 1 million square feet hub is set to create upwards of 380 new jobs and represents a $20 million capital investment. Touted as part of a multi-phase development, the initiative has received a sizeable Texas Enterprise Fund (TEF) grant to the tune of $2,451,000, in addition to a $45,000 bonus aimed at encouraging veteran employment.
“Texas is where the crossroads of hard work and opportunity lead to success,” Governor Abbott remarked. This statement highlights the state’s commitment to fostering a business-friendly environment that supports expansions and job creation. The governor also mentioned Texas’ “robust infrastructure and transportation networks,” which likely played a crucial role in Loloi’s site selection—adding to an overarching narrative that Texas is an ideal place for both business and family.
The distribution facility in Ennis, described by Loloi Founder and President Amir Loloi as resulting from the state’s continued opportunities for growth, marks a significant milestone since the company’s inception in 2003. Amir Loloi spoke to the long-standing relationship with the state, “Texas has been our home since we started Loloi more than 20 years ago, and the state continues to provide opportunities to grow,” he said. True to its roots, the family-owned business specializes in wholesale production of items like designer rugs, pillows, and throws, with an expansion into other home furnishing categories also planned.
Ennis Mayor Kameron Raburn and Ennis Economic Development Corporation Director Miriam Castillo have expressed both honor and gratitude for Loloi’s decision to expand within their city. The investment is seen as not only a boon to job creation but an endorsement of the talented workforce and vibrant business climate the city boasts, with Mayor Raburn voicing appreciation for the governor’s leadership. Castillo added, “This announcement reflects the cumulative work that has gone into creating opportunity in Ennis through partnerships and long-term vision.” Indeed, Loloi’s influence in the region signifies the growth of an industrial base that could reverberate through the local economy for years to come.
The Texas Enterprise Fund, serving as a deal-closer for projects like Loloi’s, operates on a performance basis. Grants are allocated when one Texas site is pitted against out-of-state competitors, intended to sway business relocation or expansion in favor of Texas communities. The expectation is to generate new, well-paying jobs and substantial capital investment within the state—goals that this latest venture by Loloi seems poised to fulfill.
