Valentine Phoenix executive chef Donald Hawk loves this Chinese spot
Where does James Beard semifinalist chef Donald Hawk like to eat after his shift or on his days off? He shares his love for Old Town Taste restaurant with food and dining reporter Bahar Anooshahr.
A new location of New Jersey-based Playa Bowls opened its doors in the Arcadia neighborhood of Phoenix on Saturday, May 3.
The Phoenix location was opened by former Pittsburgh Steelers fullback Roosevelt Nix. Nix came across the brand as he was looking to invest in a business after his retirement from the NFL. He felt that investing his time and money into a restaurant that focused on healthy, fresh ingredients just made sense.
Playa Bowls offers bowls, smoothies, juices and cold brew drinks. The bowls use primarily plant-based ingredients like fresh fruit and granola. The fan favorite Pura Vida bowl is made with blueberry flax granola, strawberry, blueberry and honey.
On grand opening day, the first 50 people in line will receive a free bowl and T-shirt.
