AVENUE CITY, Mo. (KQTV) — New businesses are booming at the Avenue City School District.
The Avenue City gymnasium was filled with brand-new store stands with entrepreneurs of all ages. Each shop was run by members of the Biz Kids Entrepreneur Club, selling their own unique products.
Ben Morey and Dillon Nold used their talents to make wood products through their store, “We Got The Wood.”
“This is a bookmark. It was originally a spacer, and so I put it through the planer, and it turned out like this, and then I drilled a hole through it, and then added the string to make it,” said Morey.
The business, like all the others, got its own ribbon-cutting and a certificate to celebrate.
The overall success has created the plan to host this event again.
“This is something we want to continue to do because we want our students to be futuristic and independent thinkers, and this is just one way we can get them to do that,” Becky Grimes said.
Each business was designated a number that shoppers would vote on at the end of the day.
“Wonderfully Made” won best customer service, best booth display was “Crocheted by Avery”, and most innovative was a tie between “We Got the Wood and “Battle Bass Co”.
