Former LSU football wide receiver DJ Chark was released by the Atlanta Falcons on Monday. Chark’s Atlanta tenure lasted less than a month after he was signed in late July.
Chark appeared in two preseason games with the Falcons prior to his release. He was targeted three times vs. the Titans, catching one pass for 11 yards.
Chark was originally drafted by the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2018, where he spent the first four years of his career. Following Jacksonville, Chark made stops in Detroit, Carolina, and LA.
Chark was a Pro Bowl wide receiver with the Jaguars in 2019, surpassing 1,000 yards and averaging 13.8 yards per catch.
In 2024, Chark was with the Chargers, but didn’t see much action. He appeared in seven games and caught four passes for 31 yards. Chark has 216 receptions, 3,100 yards, and 24 touchdowns in his seven-year NFL career.
Throughout his career, Chark has been known as a speedster who can take the top off a defense. He averaged 16.7 yards per catch with the Lions in 2022.
Chark spent four years at LSU and emerged as one of the SEC’s best receivers in 2017. Chark caught 40 passes for 874 yards, an average of 21.9 yards per reception. He was critical on special teams, too.
