Since getting introduced to and involved with the Miami Downtown Development Authority (Miami DDA) in 2001, Gary Ressler has been working tirelessly to continuously improve the quality of life of residents while fostering the growth of local businesses throughout downtown Miami.
As chair of the quality-of-life committee, Mr. Ressler has ensured that the downtown area is accessible, clean, safe, and attractive for all to enjoy.
A communications major graduate from Whittier College in Los Angeles and working in the Creative Affairs Department of Walt Disney Feature Animation, he moved to Miami in 2001 to assume operations of his family’s commercial real estate management and development firm Tilia Real Estate. Under his leadership, Mr. Ressler launched the Historic Alfred I. Dupont Building special events. He later went on to establish Tilia Events, Tilia Family of Companies, and Tilia Management.
Mr. Ressler now serves on the board of The Miami Downtown Development Authority, The Kronish Foundation of Temple Beth Sholom in Miami Beach, and as president of the Board of Directors of The Downtown Miami Partnership.
As an autonomous agency to the city, the board’s mission for the Miami DDA is to grow, strengthen, and promote the economic health and vitality of downtown Miami, Mr. Ressler said
“The Miami DDA has played an instrumental part in Downtown Miami’s growth by investing in initiatives that solidify our region as a global incubator for new technology, creating a welcoming environment for both large and small companies, and showcasing our improvements,” he said. “We continue to grow faster and stronger than ever with the support of local leaders, politicians, businesspersons, and residents. People choose to live in downtown Miami because the advantages here rival anywhere else in the nation, with a landscape that is rich in legacy and ripe with promise.”
Mr. Ressler spoke with Miami Today reporter Abraham Galvan.
