NY Giants training camp 2025 practice highlights from the sidelines
See and hear New York Giants players in highlights during training camp practices from the sideline in East Rutherford.
Jets head coach Aaron Glenn needed just one word to describe his team’s first half performance as he jogged to the locker room.
“Sloppy.”
It’s an accurate assessment in Gang Green’s overall performance in Saturday night’s 31-12 loss to the Giants in their annual preseason matchup at MetLife Stadium.
It was a rough outing for starting QB Justin Fields. He who missed multiple throws – high and low – finished just 1-for-5 with four passing yards and rushed once for five yards on his only carry of the night in the two series he was on the field.
The more concerning aspect is the connection – or lack thereof – between Fields and No. 1 wide receiver Garrett Wilson.
The duo, who were teammates in college for two seasons at Ohio State, have yet to find a rhythm and be on the same page this preseason. They have yet to connect in four attempts through two games.
Following Fields’ underwhelming drive, the coaching staff essentially took the ball out of his hands on the second drive when Breece Hall and Braelon Allen bullied their way in the running game down the field which led to a field goal and the team’s first points of the night.
The story of the night came on the opposite sideline, with Giants’ QB Jaxson Dart dissecting the Jets’ backup defense in the third quarter, as he completed 13 consecutive passes to six different receivers and finished 14-of-16 with 137 yards and two total touchdowns (one passing, one rushing) with Big Blue outscoring the Jets 17-0 in the quarter, ultimately the difference in this game.
While the Jets had essentially their starting offense for a couple drives, the team was still without two of their best defensive players. All-Pro defensive lineman Quinnen Williams didn’t play and No. 1 cornerback Sauce Gardner remains sidelined as he continues to deal with a calf injury but reportedly isn’t appeared to be serious after not practicing at all during the joint practice sessions against the Giants earlier this week.
The Jets fall to 1-1 in the preseason and their four-game winning streak over Big Blue comes to an end tonight in the Meadowlands. Gang Green looks to rebound in their preseason finale next Friday night at MetLife Stadium when they welcome in the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles.

With not much going right on offense all night, the Jets finally find the end zone when rookie QB Brady Cook connects with Quentin Skinner, who went full extension for his first touchdown reception and stayed in bounds to cut the Giants lead to 24-12.
Gang Green went for the two-point conversion to make it a 10-point game but didn’t convert.
Time’s now the biggest factor working against the Jets with less than eight minutes remaining in the game.
Jaxson Dart finished scorching hot against the Jets backups in the third quarter. He’s completed 13 consecutive passes and was 14-of-16 for 137 passing yards. The Giants first round pick now has a passing touchdown and a score on the ground as he snuck in from a yard out to give Big Blue a 21-6 lead late in the third quarter.
Dart’s night is now over as former No. 1 overall pick Jameis Winston is now under center for Big Blue with the fourth quarter right around the corner.
The Jets ended the first half with a 14-play, 82-yard drive that led to a 31-yard made field goal by veteran placekicker Nick Folk to cut the lead to one going into the break.
Giants’ rookie QB Jaxson Dart came out of the locker room on fire, as he went 5-6 for 62 yards and led a nine-play, 71-yard touchdown drive that ended with Big Blue’s first round pick firing a bullet right up the seam to tight end Greg Dulcich for a 20-yard score to put extend their lead.
Still going against the Giants first-team offense, the Jets defense comes away with a takeaway as the 2024 fifth-round pick Qwan’tez Stiggers intercepts Russell Wilson’s moonball in the end zone for a touchback.
This was clearly Wilson and the receiver, Beaux Collins, on the wrong page after their 80-yard connection earlier in the game.
The Jets didn’t get a single yard after the turnover as all three passes from Adrian Martinez fell incomplete, forcing another punt by Gang Green.
Following a short and abbreviated first drive, head coach Aaron Glenn decided to keep his starters out there and for good reason.
This time, the Jets kept it essentially all on the ground as 10 of the 12 plays on that drive were runs, with Braelon Allen and Breece Hall both taking turns pounding their way down the field.
The drive did stall on third and short, with Glenn deciding to take the points this time as kicker Nick Folk made a 38-yard field goal to cut into the Giants lead.
You read that right. On 1st and 10 at their own 19-yard line, Giants’ starting QB Russell Wilson launched a moonball to wide receiver Beaux Collins for an 80-yard gain down to the Jets’ one-yard line.
Two plays later, Devin Singletary was able to squeak into the end zone to give Big Blue an early 7-0 lead.
Lets see how the QB Justin Fields and the Jets starting offensive responds.
During the Jets first drive, we got a look at the NFL’s new virtual measurement system that’s taking over as the identifier for if the football crossed the line for a first down.
This came on a 3rd and 1, where Jets’ RB Braelon Allen rushed for no gain. After the virtual measurement review, it was revealed that Gang Green was exactly an inch short of a first down. The Jets would go for it at the Giants’ 49-yard line and converted on a three-yard run by Allen to continue the drive.
After a 38-yard kickoff return from Kene Nwangwu, the Jets couldn’t muster anything going on offense after getting a first down. QB Justin Fields had one throw that was too low and another that was too high, leading to a quick three and out despite the great field position.
Joe Tippmann, who’s starting at center after Josh Meyers did last week, also had a high snap on the first drive.

Jets offensive line vs. Giants defensive line
The must-see battle early in this game will be clear. It comes up front in between the trenches.
It didn’t matter where the Giants’ and Jets’ held their two joint practices this past week, as Big Blue’s front of Brian Burns and Abdul Carter wreaked havoc against Gang Green’s starting offensive line both days.
Aaron Glenn had high praise for Carter — the No. 3 overall pick in April’s Draft — after his performance against starting tackles Olu Fashanu and Armand Membou. “He’s a damn good player, we all know that, and he’s gonna make some plays in this league.”
Tonight will be another barometer test for the pair of young tackles on how they handle this ferocious Giants front after they struggled in the joint practices.
Backup QB situation
Given the fact that he played a series last week in Green Bay, the assumption here is that QB Justin Fields will likely get a limited amount of run in his MetLife debut for Gang Green. It gets much more interesting after Fields leaves the field (pun intended).
Despite not suiting up in the first preseason game, it was announced earlier this week that backup QB Tyrod Taylor will be out for the preseason as he underwent a knee scope and “hopefully” will be back for Week 1, Glenn said.
With that news, the Jets worked out veteran QBs C.J. Beathard and Nathan Peterman on Thursday. While they haven’t signed either yet, that could change depending on tonight’s performance.
Rookie QB Brady Cooke entered last week’s contest for the remainder of the first half once Fields left. The more impressive showing came in the second half. Now listed as the backup QB, Adrien Martinez led three scoring drives over the course of third and fourth quarter and finished 11-for-16 with 152 yards and a 24-yard touchdown pass to third string tight end Stone Smartt against the Packers.
