The Heard, located at 2301 N. Central Ave., was named one of the 26 Best Museums in the U.S. by U.S. News & World Report and Tripadvisor’s “Traveler’s Choice” Award for being one of the Top 10% of things to do worldwide.
Since its founding in 1929, the Heard, a private nonprofit, has become recognized internationally for its collections, exhibitions, educational programming and festivals. It consists of 12 galleries featuring American Indian art and exhibitions, an outdoor sculpture gallery, a museum shop and an outdoor café.
Per the U.S. News & World Report ranking: “The Southwest’s vibrant Native American culture and history comes through best at the Heard Museum. Standing on grounds that the Akimel O’otham consider their homeland, the Heard Museum showcases artwork – including an outdoor sculpture gallery – from artists descendant from multiple nations and tribes, including Chiricahua Apache, Aleut, Nez Perce, Hopi, Navajo, Tewa and more.”
Per Tripadvisor’s Travelers’ Choice Awards for 2025, Top 10% of things to do worldwide: “Ranking among the top percentage of businesses globally means you have made such a memorable impact on your visitors that many of them took time to go online and leave a glowing review about their experience. We hope this recognition continues to drive business to you in 2025 and beyond.”
