HOUSTON — Francesca’s, a Houston-based women’s specialty retailer, has revealed that its “periodic progression of store closings and layoffs” began on Jan. 14.
In addition to the employees who work at Francesca’s roughly 450 stores nationwide, this shutdown affects those based at the company’s headquarters at 8760 Clay Road, Suite 100. Those 202 employees will be let go on a rolling basis, according to the WARN letter signed by Christine Kaighn, executive vice president and chief stores and culture officer.
On Jan. 8, Francesca’s received a notice of default from its lender requiring the company to permanently cease operations, according to the Jan. 14 WARN letter, which the Texas Workforce Commission released Jan. 21.
