The Broncos talked a lot this week about carving an elusive offensive identity. The first three weeks of the season featured flashes of good things from Bo Nix, dashes of encouraging moments in the running game and glimpses of playmaking potential among new targets. What the Broncos didn’t have to start the season was any semblance of balance — and that made offensive rhythm an evasive target.
Not everything can be fixed in one game, but the Broncos showed something of a blueprint Monday night. It just may still need some tweaking. Denver split work between running backs RJ Harvey and JK Dobbins, who became the first Broncos running back to rush for 100 yards since Sean Payton became the head coach in 2023. The Broncos protected Nix, who distributed the ball quickly and effectively and sprinkled in timely, big shots to Courtland Sutton. The offensive line, led by left tackle Garett Bolles’ sound work against last year’s sack leader, Trey Hendrickson, led the charge.
Still, the Broncos committed too many penalties. They began the game with a three-and-out. They faced too many third-and-longs in the second half that prevented them from creating even more of a cushion. It was a starting point, but there is more work to be done.
