The restaurant shut down as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.
HOUSTON — After a multiyear closure, one of Houston’s most iconic restaurants is on its way back.
Spindletop, the rotating restaurant on the 31st floor of the Hyatt Regency Houston Downtown at 1200 Louisiana St., has set May 15 as its reopening date.
Before shutting down amid the Covid-19 pandemic, Spindletop was famed for its 360-degree panoramic views of Houston and for gently rotating one full turn every 45 minutes, offering guests an ever-changing perspective of the city throughout their dining experience.
Since its opening in 1972, Spindletop became known as the setting of marriage proposals, anniversaries, first dates, birthday celebrations, pre-prom dinners and countless date nights.
Following its closure, the restaurant was converted into an event space.
However, the Covid-19 closure also was not the first time it was forced to shut down.
