PHOENIX – A novel IKEA planning and pickup concept is set to welcome its first customers in Scottsdale this week.
A grand opening ceremony will be held Wednesday from 9:40 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Promenade Scottsdale shopping center on the southeast corner of Scottsdale Road and Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard.
The event will feature Swedish snacks, refreshments, giveaways and an announcement about the company’s future in Arizona.
The new location isn’t like the massive blue store in Tempe that furniture and home furnishings shoppers have come to know and love.
What services does new Scottsdale IKEA offer?
Instead, the Scottsdale outpost is Arizona’s first appointment-based showroom concept known as “IKEA Plan and order point with Pick-up.”
Shoppers looking for solutions to their kitchen, bedroom and bathroom projects can get personalized support from company experts at the new store.
Customers also can get free curbside pick-up at the Scottsdale location on qualifying online orders.
“No more trekking through that notorious central Phoenix traffic. Now you can enjoy IKEA and our inspiring home design with less hassle,” market manager Kori Thorstenson said in a press release.
