An Illinois Lotto player hit the largest jackpot of 2025 on Monday, winning approximately $14.6 million.
The winning player matched all six numbers in the Monday, Aug 25 ‘Lotto’ drawing.
Monday’s prize is the largest Lotto jackpot to date in 2025, according to Illinois Lottery. The $14.6 million prize surpassed the previous titleholder, a $10.4 million jackpot awarded on February 8.
Lotto is an Illinois-only game that is played three times a week, on Monday, Thursday and Saturday. Tickets can be purchased in-store, online or in the Illinois Lottery App.
The winning ticket was purchased at the Crown Mart located at 306 East Broadway in East Saint Louis.
For selling the ticket, Crown Mart will receive a bonus of $146,000, 1% of the prize amount.
Ed Hamed, store manager at Crown Mart, said the business’ phone “has been ringing off the hook with customers, calling to congratulate us.”
Hamed said the store will put the bonus money “back into the business — remodel the inside and outside to make it more welcoming.”
“And, of course, we’ll be surprising our staff with something special to thank them for their dedication and great service,” he added.
The winning numbers were 5-9-14-18-22-23, according to Illinois Lottery.
Nearly 4.5 million winning Lotto games tickets have been sold this year, with total prizes amounting to more than $44.8 million for Illinois players, according to Illinois Lottery.
