IYRS School of Technology & Trades will host its 27th annual IYRS Summer Gala on Saturday, July 13, at 6 p.m. at IYRS, with musical guest Trombone Shorty and Orleans Avenue.
“The IYRS Summer Gala isn’t just an event; it’s a celebration of craftsmanship, innovation, and the spirit of community that defines IYRS,” said Liz Isdale, Director of Philanthropy at IYRS. “For everyone involved, it is an opportunity to witness firsthand the impact of our work and the generosity of our supporters. Whether it’s through empowering individuals with education, preserving traditional trades, or teaching modern manufacturing skills, every facet of the gala reflects the core values of IYRS.”
IYRS students learn boatbuilding, marine systems, digital modeling & fabrication and composites technology. Upon graduation, they enter or advance in careers in the marine industry, become entrepreneurs or explore industries like motorsport, aerospace, and defense.
On Saturday, June 1, the school graduated more than 70 students, launched five Beetle Cat sailboats as well as a Buzzards Bay 14 “Wild Duck” sailboat and a Race Point Surf Rescue Boat replica at its annual graduation and launch day.
IYRS graduates typically have an average 85 percent graduation rate and an 85 percent graduate placement rate thanks to IYRS’s more than 700 industry partnerships.
“I’m thrilled to be a part of this event and to contribute to the continued success of IYRS, our student outcomes and industry partners,” said Isdale. “This year’s gala holds particular significance for me, and I am excited to be a part of this event in a new way after joining the team this March. With Trombone Shorty and Orleans Avenue setting the stage, it is a night filled with music, camaraderie, and a shared passion for craftsmanship.”
