When the Minnesota Vikings took the field in Week 5, one notable player found himself on the sideline for the entire first quarter. That would be Jordan Addison, who missed the quarter due to a coach’s decision over a missed walkthrough, says the Vikings’ Kevin O’Connell.
Addison more than made up for that later, catching the game-winning touchdown pass with just 24 seconds left to play in Minnesota’s 21-17 victory against the Cleveland Browns in London.
That wasn’t his only big play on the final drive. Addison hauled in two other passes to keep the Vikings’ comeback hopes alive, including one diving 5-yard gain.

After missing the entire first quarter, Addison finished with five receptions for 41 yards and a score.
His early absence was shrouded in mystery during the contest. When Addison did not see the field for the Vikings’ first two drives, some wondered whether the 23-year-old receiver was injured. That wasn’t the case, O’Connell explained after Sunday’s victory.

“He missed a walkthrough this week,” O’Connell said. “Those types of things aren’t in alignment with our standards. Wanted to make sure he was held accountable for that.”

When the team took the field for its first snap of the second quarter, Addison was back out there. And to punctuate that, Addison’s fourth-quarter score seemingly ended any controversy about his first-quarter troubles.
Still, it was a disappointing development for Addison, who was suspended for the first three games of the 2025 season after a 2024 DUI arrest. Addison returned to action in Week 4, where he caught four passes for 114 yards in a loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
