Actress and Broadway star Kristin Chenoweth is a big Oklahoma City Thunder basketball fan, and she had the ultimate honor: singing the National Anthem before Game 7 of the NBA Finals as the Thunder face the Indiana Pacers.
Kristin is an Oklahoma native (her dog is even named Thunder!), so she is a supporter of her local team. She told the AP, “I never miss a game unless I’m on stage. I was a cheerleader in high school in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, and I loved football, but my favorite was basketball. I like how much of a team player you’ve got to be. … And this is my team.”
Kristin took the court in a Thunder T-shirt, jeans, and knee-high bedazzled boots. She delivered an incredible anthem and finished with an unreal high note. She shared a video of the performance on Instagram, and one fan wrote, “GLINDA THO DAMNNNNN!!! THUNDER UP!!” and another granted her the “MVP.” One commenter said, “Her singing is fire 🔥🔥” Another fan added, “THAT HIGH NOTE BABYGIRL 😍😍😍😍 @kchenoweth”
“I’ve had some pretty big moments in my life in the entertainment field, but this one, I don’t know why, makes me nervous,” she told the AP. “I just am very honored that they asked. And I’m proud of these kids. I mean, we have come so far. Of course I want us to win. When the NFL has hired me for the anthem, you remain neutral. But the NBA didn’t hire me for this, so I’m Thundering it up.”
We’ll see if Kristin’s team takes home the trophy!
