CHESTERFIELD, Va. (WWBT) – Inside Latin Quarter off Courthouse Road, Adam Taveras serves dishes straight from the heart.
“Our menu is kind of like a mix of everything. You have Cuban dishes, Dominican dishes, Puerto Rican, Mexican,” said Taveras, the owner of Latin Quarter. “All the recipes are from either my mom or my dad, which is passed down to them from their parents.”
From a food truck to a permanent location in Chesterfield, Latin Quarter has grown over the years.
The small business has been an important part of the Latino Farmer’s Market in Chesterfield, which is set to start a new season in April.
“It gives us a platform to grow, it builds community,” said Taveras.

Since starting in 2024, the Latino Farmer’s Market has called Rockwood Park home.
This year, the event will be moving further down Hull Street Road to the Chesterfield Career and Technical Center.
“They gave us the space that is behind the building of the Chesterfield Technical Center,” said America DeLoach, the organizer of the Latino Farmer’s Market. “It’s a gigantic field, it’s pretty large, pretty big.”
This year, DeLoach said they’re expecting at least 50 small businesses to participate in the event. For DeLoach, the extra space will be helpful to expand their outreach while providing opportunities for young entrepreneurs.
“My job is not only help them and give them the space, but my job also goes into let me help you set, let me give you advice, let me help you with the whole process,” she said.

DeLoach, the owner of Salsas Don Sebastian, knows what it takes to start a company from scratch.
“Back then, I just had a blender and I started making salsa and then I moved to a smaller kitchen, and then after that I have a bigger kitchen,” she said. “I know what are the needs, I know what are the struggles.”
Through the Latino Farmer’s Market, DeLoach will be passing these lessons down to inspire future generations to follow their dreams.
“It’s hard, it’s very hard. I remember clearly I started at a farmer’s market,” said DeLoach. “I know it’s possible. I know it’s possible to go from a farmer’s market, it’s the first step.”

The Latino Farmer’s Market will kick off their new season on Saturday, April 4 at the Chesterfield Career and Technical Center, located at 13900 Hull Street Road, Midlothian, VA, 23112.
The event will run every Saturday at the Chesterfield Career and Technical Center from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. until Oct. 31.
