SPOKANE, Wash. — Former U.S. Representative Liz Cheney visited Spokane Wednesday morning.
It was a packed crowd at the Spokane Convention Center, with nearly 1,000 people on site this morning to hear from Cheney, who was the featured speaker for Whitworth University’s President Leadership Forum.
The former U.S. Rep out of Wyoming covered several topics, including leadership and the future of politics in America.
This includes touching on losing her seat as a U.S. representative and speaking out against President Trump after riots on the Capitol in 2021.
The title of Cheney’s speech on Wednesday morning was: “Defending Democracy: A conversation with Liz Cheney.”
“Our freedom is a sacred gift,” Cheney said. “It’s an inheritance that’s been safeguarded and handed down to us, stretching back 250 years.”
Cheney spoke for roughly 20 minutes before a Q&A session with Whitworth’s president.
Cheney urged the room and American citizens to continue using their vote and to keep seeking the truth.
Cheney wrapped things up by saying communication with others who have different opinions or perspectives than you is important, stressing it’s not abandoning your values or beliefs, but it could just be an opportunity to learn.
