PHOENIX (AZFamily)—A Valley freeway has reopened after a semi-truck carrying chocolate candy bars caught fire on Tuesday morning, leaving a sticky mess.
The Arizona Department of Public Safety said that around 5 a.m., a semi-truck carrying Twix candy bars was westbound on Loop 303 milepost 137 in north Phoenix when the trailer caught fire.
DPS says that the truck driver heard a popping sound and pulled over.
Photos sent to Arizona’s Family from DPS show the melted Twix bars and charred trailer on the side of the freeway.
Loop 303 was closed while crews worked to extinguish the flames and clear the scene. Traffic was being diverted at 43rd Avenue, but no significant backup was reported.
The roadway reopened around 7:40 a.m.
No injuries were reported in this incident.
