ATLANTA – Few details have been released after the deadly shooting of a 39-year-old man in the Pittsburgh neighborhood of Atlanta on Wednesday afternoon.
Officers were dispatched just after 2 p.m. Wednesday to a home along Coleman Street between Mary and Arthur streets.
According to the Atlanta Police Department, officers found a 39-year-old man suffering from at least one gunshot wound. Medics rushed him in critical condition to an area hospital, but he later died.
SKYFOX 5 flew over the scene shortly before 4 p.m. and found multiple markers where shell casings landed on the ground. The intersection of Coleman and Arthur streets was blocked off.
Neighbors told FOX 5 news they thought their community was on an upswing. They say it is very disturbing and that is not something which happens there often anymore.
Witnesses say teenagers were trying to break into cars in the neighborhood when a woman spotted them and attempted to confront them. A man saw the interaction and attempted to intervene; the witness continued. That’s when someone opened fire, striking the man.
The name of the man has not been released.
Atlanta Police homicide detectives did not name any suspects or descriptions of anyone they are searching for in this case.
The motive remains under investigation.
