More than 90 vendors are expected to be on hand Saturday and Sunday during a Markets for Makers event at POST Houston.
Considered a live version of Etsy, Markets for Makers is a family-friendly experience that connects community members to artisans and local business owners. The spring event in Houston is scheduled for 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at 401 Franklin St.
Cherie Riley, the event producer for Markets for Makers, says they host markets in other cities including Austin, Chicago, Los Angeles and Miami. Houston has some special goodies that visitors can expect, she said.
“You will find everything from clothing to jewelry to hand-crafted leather goods, candles, whiskey-infused chocolates that use our local breweries,” Riley said.
Tickets are sold by time slots and can be purchased online or at the door. The cost at the door is $15. VIP experiences also are available.
Riley said there will be a do-it-yourself experience involving bedazzling sunglasses. A photo booth also will be available, along with a food hall.
“We try to make this a fun family experience, so that it is not just about shopping, but you also get a chance to talk to the vendors themselves,” Riley said. “They love having individual conversations and so that could be fun, too.”
