Moffat County School District depends on a lot of teams to keep the business of teaching kids up and running.
Among those groups, one of those who touches almost everything else is the district’s Technology Department. This three-person team is vital to almost everything the district does.
Led by Director Heather Higgins, the team also includes Heather Hamman and Chris Herod. These fantastic technological wizards work all year long to ensure the systems we rely on to do our work in the district are at top condition and ready to serve.
It’s never a bad time to thank these three, but it’s particularly appropriate to do so ahead of Friday’s System Administrator Appreciation Day.
These tireless, brilliant, passionate teammates work constantly to, among other things, keep internet connections up and running, service and maintain phone systems, manage security camera, upgrade system security, maintain, refresh, repair and renew thousands of pieces of hardware, and respond to user questions by hundreds of staff and nearly 2,000 students at the drop of a hat.
These guys are amazing. They can do things it’s hard to imagine. They can fix anything, they’re constantly upgrading processes, tools, hardware, software and systems. They are riding the cutting edge of security all the time. They are never without work to do, and never done with their work.
We’re so grateful to Heather, Heather and Chris at Moffat County School District. Without them, it’s pretty easy to imagine where we’d be: Nowhere at all. We’d be cut off from our tools, cut off from each other, cut off from the world, vulnerable, slow, weak, and ineffective. Teachers rely on the technology they maintain every day. Students and parents do, too. It’s impossible to overstate the impact of this little team of superstars.
So, on System Administrator Appreciation Day, let’s appreciate our system administrators a little extra. Let’s remember how much we need these folks and how grateful we are to have them.
Thank you, Moffat County School District technology team. Thank you today, thank you Friday, and thank you every day.
We couldn’t do our work without yours.
