NVIDIA & MediaTek have partnered to bring the full suite of G-Sync technologies available to a wider range of gamers in more cost-effective monitor options.
MediaTek’s Scalers To Harness The Full Suite of NVIDIA G-Sync Technologies, Dropping The Need For Dedicated Modules & Reducing Gaming Monitor Prices For Everyone
NVIDIA’s G-Sync technology was first introduced in 2013 and since then, it has seen various tech updates in the form of ULM, Reflex Analyzer, Pulsar, and integration within a range of monitors such as G-Sync Compatible, G-Sync Ultimate, and BFGDs (Big Format Gaming Displays) segments.
NVIDIA is working with MediaTek to make the industry’s best gaming display technologies more accessible to gamers globally. The full suite of G-SYNC technologies is getting integrated into the world’s most popular scalers.
This eliminates the need for a separate G-SYNC module, streamlining the production process and reducing costs. A highlight of this collaboration is the introduction of G-SYNC Pulsar. This new technology offers 4x the effective motion clarity alongside a smooth and tear-free variable refresh rate (VRR) gaming experience. It will debut on newly announced monitors, including the ASUS ROG Swift 360Hz PG27AQNR, Acer Predator XB273U F5 and AOC AGON PRO AG276QSG2. These 2560×1440 Pulsar monitors, expected later this year, feature 360Hz refresh rates and HDR support.

Today, NVIDIA is announcing that it has worked with MediaTek to bring the full suite of G-Sync technologies to its scalers which will be available in a wide range of monitors. The features to expect from MediaTek’s G-Sync scalers include:
- Variable Refresh Rate
- Variable Overdrive
- 12b Color Accuracy
- Ultra-Low Motion Blur
- Low Latency HDR
- Reflex Analyzer
- Pulsar
- & more to come
Talking to NVIDIA, we were told that there were going to be no differences between a monitor using a dedicated G-Sync module and a MediaTek G-Sync scaler. The difference will stem from the fact that there will be a lot more options available to gamers at a range of different and attractive price points. Every monitor more or less needs a scalar so having the Mediatek scalar with G-Sync goodness integrated within it will open for a whole slew of gaming options in the coming years.
One of the biggest benefits of the MediaTek G-Sync scalers is that they will drop the need of having a dedicated G-Sync module in premium monitors such as the G-Sync Ultimate certified ones. This is not only going to streamline the production process of newer gaming monitors but will also lead to cost reductions, leading to more attractive price points for gaming displays. NVIDIA and its partners are already announcing three monitors that will take advantage of MediaTek’s G-Sync scalers which include:
- AOC AGON PRO AG276QSG2
- Acer Predator XB273U F5
- ASUS ROG Swift 360Hz PG27AQNR
NVIDIA also plans to expand the number of scalers with G-Sync technologies & the monitor range using these scalers in the coming years.
In addition to these, G-Sync Pulsar will also be a highlight of this announcement. The technology was announced at CES 2024 and optimizes VRR gaming monitors with 4x the motion clarity, leading to stutter-free gaming and buttery smooth motion. All of the three monitors mentioned above will include G-Sync Pulsar support and there will be a lot more options available later this year in 1440p (QHD) flavors with up to 360Hz refresh rates and HDR support.
