In case you missed it
Texas Original announced the opening of a new location at 1464 Austin Hwy., just north of Alamo Heights, according to a news release.
This new spot is known as a “satellite” location, according to the release.
“Satellite locations, authorized under House Bill 46, allow licensed medical marijuana providers to operate Department of Public Safety‑approved locations where medicine can be securely stored onsite,” the release states.
House Bill 46 also includes the Compassionate Use Program, which first allowed THC products to be sold for medical purposes only, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
What’s special about it?
Texas Original sells products to patients with verified medical prescriptions, according to their website.
At satellite locations, patients can pick up their product the same day after ordering, while traditional sites require transport from a central facility, according to the release.
There’s standard flower, tincture, edibles and more available for purchase.
Quote of note
Nico Richardson, the CEO at Texas Original, said these new locations will better serve a larger population of people who need medical cannabis treatment.
“Strengthening access to safe, reliable medical marijuana remains our driving mission,” he said. “These new locations allow more Texans to receive their medicine locally, reflecting our commitment to serving patients in every corner of the state.”
According to the release, an additional 14,000 Texans will be served due to the expansion. Additional locations also opened in Plano, Nacogdoches, Lubbock and Tyler.
