Downtown Miami is getting a major mobility upgrade designed to make getting around the urban core easier than ever.
The Miami Downtown Development Authority (Miami DDA), in partnership with Freebee, has introduced six new all-electric vehicles and expanded routes connecting Brickell, the Central Business District and the Arts & Entertainment (A&E) District, creating a simple way for those who live, work and visit Downtown Miami to connect between offices, restaurants, museums, waterfront destinations and more throughout the district.
The expansion builds on the success of Miami DDA’s previous Freebee program, which served more than 40,000 passengers. With new vehicles and service available throughout the entire Miami DDA district, Freebee is expected to reach even more riders while helping reduce short car trips and improve mobility across some of Downtown Miami’s fastest-growing neighborhoods.
Miami DDA leadership, including Miami DDA chair and City of Miami District 4 Commissioner Ralph “Rafael” Rosado, City of Miami District 3 Commissioner Rolando Escalona, and Miami DDA CEO and executive director Christina Crespi, recently unveiled the new fleet at Mary Brickell Village, marking the official launch of the expanded service.
“Available on demand, the Freebee service will offer a simple way for residents and visitors to move between key destinations, helping keep our city moving and more connected than ever,” Rosado said.
The expanded Freebee service is available Monday through Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 11:30 p.m., and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Riders can download the Freebee app to request a ride.
