Dallas Cowboys star pass rusher Micah Parsons is already making waves in training camp, and it seems like the rest of the Cowboys offense is in for a long few weeks. Parsons, who is playing at a svelte 240 pounds, has been dominating the Cowboys’ offensive line in practice, with backup left tackle Chuma Edoga struggling to slow him down.
According to Parsons, the Cowboys offense is in for a rude awakening. “Yeah, it’s pretty much over, and I’m in rhythm now,” Parsons told Clarence Hill of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. “The first few days – I haven’t played in seven, eight months. I mean, I know my angles. I feel like I’m in week four right now. I’m in rhythm. There’s nothing they can do. They might as well start chipping, sliding, or it’s gonna be a long day here.”
Parsons, who is known for his versatility and ability to wreak havoc all over the field, has been working on his conditioning during the offseason, and it’s paying off. “The first day I was dog tired,” Parsons said, “but now my body’s adjusted to it. I was a little sore. That’s why I’m running in between practices. That’s for me.”
A new era for the Cowboys defense?
The Cowboys’ new defensive coordinator, Mike Zimmer, who previously served as the head coach of the Minnesota Vikings, is expected to utilize Parsons in a variety of ways. Many have been wondering how Zimmer plans to deploy one of the NFL’s most dynamic defenders, and it seems like Parsons is already giving a glimpse of what’s to come.
Parsons’ dominance in practice has been so overwhelming that he’s even predicting a potential five- or six-sack day for himself on a regular basis. “If they don’t chip, there will be a five-, six-sack day every day. It’s pretty much over. I’m gonna tell you that right now. This is what it’s gonna keep looking like.“
It’s clear that Parsons is in a league of his own, and the rest of the Cowboys’ offense is going to have their work cut out for them trying to slow him down. With Zimmer’s defensive expertise and Parsons’ relentless motor, the Cowboys’ defense could be a force to be reckoned with this season.
