When the Boston Red Sox traded infielder David Hamilton, left-handed pitcher Kyle Harrison and minor-league prospect Shane Drohan to the Milwaukee Brewers in February, they not only acquired former first-round pick Anthony Seigler and infielder Andruw Monasterio but landed their likely Opening Day third baseman in Caleb Durbin as well.
FanSided national MLB insider Robert Murray said on Monday that Harrison could be in for a huge season with the Brewers in 2026.
“I’ve referenced him before and I’ll say it again: Everything I’m hearing from folks across the industry is that Harrison looks different in Milwaukee, that he finally appears to be in position to maximize his massive talent. The Brewers’ pitching lab has cooked up some career resurgences before, and Harrison appears to be the latest beneficiary,” Murray said, picking the southpaw as his “top breakout candidate.” “Harrison is more talented than almost anyone this organization has gotten their hands on. The upside here could be scary.”
The San Francisco Giants selected Harrison in the third round of the 2020 MLB June Amateur Draft and he made his big-league debut in August 2023.
The 24-year-old went 9-9 with a 4.48 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 178 strikeouts across 182 2/3 innings pitched covering 39 games (35 starts) in parts of three seasons with the Giants before being traded to Boston as part of the Rafael Devers blockbuster deal last June.
Harrison finished the 2025 campaign allowing four runs on 14 hits with five walks and 13 strikeouts over 12 innings covering three contests including two starts with the Red Sox.
