BREAK IT DOWN:
(stats taken from DraftKings Sportsbook’s Stats Hub)
Spurs at Pistons First Point Scorer: Victor Wembanyama (+370): It goes without saying, but the first basket market is generally quite unpredictable. That said, the presence of the 7’4 Wembanyama is crucial to note — not just because he’s averaging 24.3 points per contest and is an obvious candidate to score first. With his size, Wembanyama rarely loses the opening tip, allowing San Antonio to secure the first possession and, usually, the first field goal attempt. Even with Wemby starting only 33 of the Spurs’ 56 contests in 2025-26, he’s the leading reason San Antonio has a massive 73.2% tip-off win rate, which happens to be the highest of any team on tonight’s slate. The former first-overall pick’s 29.3% first quarter usage rate is also tops among the Spurs’ starters. As I said, these props are risky. Yet, this one’s popularity at least makes some sense.
Alperen Sengun 20+ Points (-132): It’s been a weird month for Alperen Sengun. It probably seemed like an amazing sign of things to come when the center dropped a season-high 39 points against the under-sized Warriors on Groundhog Day, yet that’s simply not been the case. In his last seven games, Sengun is averaging a paltry 14.9 points with a 23.9% usage rate that is well down from his season-long figure. It’s a stretch where Sengun has failed to clear this prop six times. So, what are people thinking will change on Monday evening? My best guess is the craze surrounding this bet is matchup-based. That’s how poor the tanking Jazz have been playing in 2025-26. Utah sits dead-last in defensive rating (120.8) and second in pace (103.1). It’s almost impossible to think of a more ideal offensive environment for opponents — even ones in three-week slumps like Sengun.
Cade Cunningham Triple-Double, Yes (+840): Unless the player’s name is Nikola Jokic, a triple-double prop is always going to be high-risk for a high-reward. Still, that hasn’t stopped people from backing Cunningham in this market on tonight’s small NBA slate. The former first-overall pick has registered three triple-doubles so far in 2025-26, his most recent coming back on December 20 against the Hornets. That said, Cunningham’s barely missed out on a triple-double in each of his two starts since the All-Star break, coming two rebounds short on Thursday and one board short on Saturday. Not to quote Disco Stu in an important article like this, but, if these trends continue… Maybe the betting public on to something here! It won’t be easy, though. The Spurs own the league’s third-best defensive rating (110.7), and they’ve been even more stingy with the aforementioned Wembanyama available.
3-Pick Parlay
Taking three of the most-bet player props individually is always an option, but why not roll them into a parlay and get in on all the action at once? It’s a fun way to tie everything together — feel free to tag along.
