Nate Diaz and Jorge Masvidal will look to settle their differences in the boxing ring tonight. MMA News has the results here!
The long-awaited rematch between Diaz and Masvidal will finally occur tonight at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California. Both fighters have waited nearly five years to fight each other again after their first encounter at UFC 244 in 2019. However, instead of competing in MMA, they will run it back in the boxing ring.
In their first matchup, Masvidal seemed to be the better fighter. He was able to pick apart Diaz on the feet, and some fans believe “Gamebred” could’ve gotten a decisive knockout victory. However, a cut Diaz sustained caused the doctor to stop the fight in the third round.
This time, both fighters hope to enter the boxing ring to get a statement win and potentially end their heated rivalry.
The DraftKings betting odds favor the former BMF champion to get another win over the Stockton native. Masvidal is undefeated in his limited professional boxing career, as he recorded a majority decision victory in a four-round bout over Joseph Benjamin in 2005. That said, one of the interesting factors in tonight’s matchup is that it will be a 10-round match. “Gamebred” believes he’ll finish his rival, but the fight could shift in Diaz’s favor if the bout goes the distance.
Elsewhere on the card, Anthony Pettis will take on Chris Avila in a light heavyweight contest. Pettis is coming off a debut win over boxing legend Roy Jones Jr. by a majority decision last year. That said, “Showtime’s” opponent tonight is on a five-fight win streak as a pro and will be motivated to get a show-stealing win over the former UFC champion.
