Pewaukee native and former NCAA tournament sensation Jack Gohlke is returning to Wisconsin from a stint overseas as the 25-year-old entered the G League player pool and was claimed by the Herd on Dec. 23.
Gohlke hit 10 three-pointers to lead his 14th-seeded Oakland University Grizzlies to a first-round upset of the third-seeded University of Kentucky Wildcats in the 2024 NCAA tournament.
He went undrafted and signed a training camp deal with Oklahoma City, playing four summer league games with the Thunder. He eventually signed with with Košarkaški klub (KK) Podgorica in Montenegro. The team plays in Erste Liga, which is the top league in Montenegro.
The 6-foot, 3-inch guard played in just five games, averaging just over 11 minutes in those appearances.The available player pool in the G League is comprised of players that sign into the G League after the season begins. Teams are placed in a waiver order that rotates after a team makes an acquisition through the season.
After playing at Pewaukee High School, Gohlke first played at Division II Hillsdale College in Michigan. Granted an extra collegiate season due to the global coronavirus pandemic, Gohlke transferred and played the 2023-24 season at Oakland.
In his lone season with the Grizzlies, 364 of his 372 total shots were three-point attempts.
