The Seattle Seahawks are coming off an impressive performance on “Monday Night Football,” defeating the Houston Texans 27-19 to improve to 5-2 entering their Week 8 bye.
However, despite having the weekend off, star wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba, who’s been one of the best receivers in football this season, still found himself in the headlines after the NFL announced its weekly disciplinary report.
Each Saturday at 4 p.m. ET, the league releases its list of player fines from the previous week. Among those penalized was Smith-Njigba, who was fined $14,191 for unsportsmanlike conduct (use of a prop) after dunking the football over the crossbar following his touchdown against the Texans — a celebration that, per league rules, is not permitted.

The NFL has not shied away from issuing fines this season for players who taunt, engage in unsportsmanlike conduct, or commit safety violations on the field.
Following Week 7, a total of 23 players faced discipline for their actions during games. Smith-Njigba was the only player from the Seahawks—and the only player from Monday night’s game—to receive a fine from the NFL for an on-field incident..
Smith-Njigba finished the night with eight receptions for 123 yards and a touchdown. He currently leads the entire NFL in receiving yards with 819, while also totaling 50 receptions and four touchdowns on the season.
Since being drafted by the Seahawks in 2023, he has continued to ascend, improving year after year.
