The Kansas City Chiefs started the season a very uncharacteristic 0-2, and were 2-3 heading into their Week 6 game against the Detroit Lions. But a 30-17 win over Detroit thanks to Patrick Mahomes’ 257 passing yards and four total touchdowns has Kansas City back at .500 — and Mahomes back atop the odds board at sportsbooks to win his third NFL MVP.
Mahomes is now the +200 favorite to win the 2025-26 NFL MVP at BetMGM, leapfrogging Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen (+275) after the Bills lost 24-14 on “Monday Night Football” to the Atlanta Falcons. Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Baker Mayfield (+350) is the only other player with single-digit MVP odds, followed by Detroit Lions QB Jared Goff (15-1) and Los Angeles Rams QB Matthew Stafford (16-1).

Baltimore Ravens QB Lamar Jackson (+500) entered the season as the MVP favorite, but Allen took over after the 41-40 Week 1 win over the Ravens on “Sunday Night Football.”
“While several players are having great seasons, there’s no clear front runner this early on in the NFL MVP race,” Christian Cipollini, BetMGM trading manager, said in a statement. “Baker Mayfield’s play has vaulted him up into top contention, and Josh Allen’s back-to-back losses have bumped him down a bit. Mahomes getting Rashee Rice back may be the boost he needs, but we still have a long way to go.”
While Mayfield, who opened with 30-1 odds and was 11-1 last week, is the biggest liability at BetMGM, it’s surprisingly still Cincinnati Bengals QB Joe Burrow who has the most wagers (10.9%) and total dollars wagered (13.0%) to win MVP. Burrow has been out since Week 2 with a turf toe injury and won’t be back until December at the earliest.
The Chiefs are 12-point home favorites in Week 7 against the Las Vegas Raiders, while Allen’s Bills are on a bye.
