The winner of the UCLA-Cal Baptist match will advance to the second round to face the winner of No. 7 seed Virginia Tech (11-5-3) vs. Tennessee (9-6-4). In the other half of the quadrant are No. 3 seed Iowa (13-2-4), No. 6 seed Georgetown (12-3-4), Fairfield (18-2-1) and Missouri State (13-4-3).
UCLA is making its 28th overall and ninth consecutive appearance in the NCAA Tournament. The Bruins have a 74-21-8 all-time NCAA record and have won two NCAA titles – in 2013 and 2022.
In the school’s first year competing in the Big Ten Conference, UCLA the conference’s automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament after winning the Big Ten Women’s Soccer Tournament title on Sunday, 5-0 over Rutgers. The five goals scored set a new record for most goals scored in the tournament’s championship match. UCLA swept through the tournament with three shutout victories – 1-0 over Penn State in the quarterfinals, 2-0 over Washington in the semifinals and 5-0 over Rutgers in the final. The Bruins lead the nation in shutouts (16) and team goals against average (0.318). Goalkeeper Ryan Campbell is also the nation’s leader in shutouts, as she has played every minute in goal for the Bruins.
Cal Baptist is making its first-ever NCAA Division I Tournament appearance after competing in the Division II Tournament in 2013 and 2017. The Lancers won their first-ever Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Tournament on Saturday, beating Grand Canyon, 3-2.
Tickets for Friday’s first round match will go on sale on Tuesday morning, Nov. 12 on uclabruins.com/tickets. Advance sale prices are $14.50 for adults and $12 for youth. Student tickets are $9.50 with valid ID. On game day, tickets are $17 for adults, $12.50 for youth and $10 for students.
