Orange Line service shuts down in Boston due to flooding from nor’easter
Orange Line service was replaced with shuttle buses between Back Bay and Forest Hills stations due to high water conditions in the track area near Roxbury Crossing, the MBTA announced Thursday.The announcement came shortly before 7 p.m. Thursday, as the MBTA said, the floodwater posed numerous safety hazards, including risks caused by the water’s proximity to the electrified third rail.Green Line service also replaced Orange Line service in Downtown Boston, as the MBTA said that Orange Line service between North Station and Forest Hills was shut down Thursday evening.In addition to shuttle busses, the MBTA said passengers can also use MBTA Bus Route 22 between Ruggles and Jackson Square.This comes as a nor’easter storm moved through the Boston area on Thursday, with heavy rain and high winds impacting travel within the city.
