Green Bay Packers defensive end Rashan Gary talks about the loss in the playoffs and reflects on his season.
GREEN BAY − Green Bay Packers defensive backs coach Ryan Downard and linebackers coach Sean Duggan are joining ex-Packers defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley in Miami.
Downard, according to a report from the Miami Herald, will be a secondary coach for the Dolphins. Duggan, according to a league source, might be in line for defensive coordinator. Downard and Duggan are the first two assistants from the Packers to join Hafley.
Hafley was hired as head coach of the Dolphins on Jan. 19 after two seasons in Green Bay. Hafley said he plans to call plays on defense in Miami.
Duggan, 32, was on Hafley’s staff at Boston College.
Downard, 37, joined the Packers in 2018 as a defensive quality control coach. He later became assistant defensive backs coach from 2019-21, safeties coach in 2022 and was named defensive backs coach in 2023. Downard worked under Mike Pettine, Joe Barry and Hafley while in Green Bay and played a role in Jaire Alexander’s two All-Pro honors, Xavier McKinney’s two consecutive All-Pro seasons, and the development of Evan Williams and Javon Bullard.
The Packers hired ex-Cardinals coach Jonathan Gannon to replace Hafley as defensive coordinator.
