Thad Jean remains undefeated.
On Thursday night in the main event of PFL 5 in Nashville, TN, Jean took on former Bellator welterweight champion Jason Jackson, taking home a split decision win.
It was a nip-tuck affair in the main event, with Jean dropping Jackson in the first round and controlling large chunks of the action. Jackson showed his veteran savvy and continued to battle, mixing takedowns and submission attempts with his striking, but ultimately was unable to sway the judges, earning one 29-28 scorecard, while Jean took a 29-28 and a 30-27 scorecard. The win advances Jean to the tournament finals, which will take place later this year.
In the co-main event, Jesus Pinedo delivered another scintillating knockout, finishing Gabriel Braga in their featherweight semifinal. This was the third meeting between Pinedo and Braga, with the two most recently fighting in the finals of the 2023 PFL featherweight championship. Pinedo won that fight by third-round knockout, but he sped things up this time around, stopping Braga in just 76 seconds.
Earlier in the evening, Khabulaev took a unanimous decision win over Tae Kyun Kim to punch his own ticket to the 2025 featherweight finals. Now, Pinedo and Khabulaev will face off in the tournament finals as a matchup of former PFL champions.
Also on the main card, Logan Storley delivered a vintage performance against Masayuki Kikuiri to earn his spot in the welterweight tournament finals against
A former Bellator interim champion, Storley now has the chance to add another belt to his collection.
