(GREEN BAY ATHLETICS) MOON TOWNSHIP, PA – Green Bay fought from down early, but eventually fell to the Robert Morris Colonials 10-6 on Friday in their Horizon League opener.

Freshman Jasmyn Trigueros (2-7) started and took the loss in the circle for Green Bay (4-18, 0-1), going 3.2 innings. Paeton Kringel had a successful appearance out of the bullpen, pitching 2.0 scoreless innings for the Phoenix.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Trailing 2-0, the Phoenix first put runs on the board in the second inning. Brooke Schwall got the scoring started for Green Bay with a solo home run off of Colonials’ pitcher Kaitlyn Molitoris.

The Colonials expanded their 2-1 lead, scoring four unanswered runs to bring their lead to 6-1 before the Phoenix offense got back to work, cutting into that lead in the third. Green Bay picked up two runs, one on another solo shot off the bat of Gracie Anderson, and another unearned run on an error following a Brooke Schwall single, which brought the score to 6-3.

Each team added two more runs in the fourth to bring the score to 8-5 RMU, starting with a run-scoring double off the bat of Jenna Redders to score Kendal Hershbach, and punctuated by an RBI single from Aidyn Messmann to score Redders.

The Phoenix scored again on an RBI single off the bat of Sara Ebner, bringing the score to 8-6 in favor of Robert Morris. The Phoenix was unable to get any closer, as Robert Morris added two runs to their tally on the way to a 10-6 final.

GAME NOTES
» Four Green Bay hitters had multiple base knocks in the ballgame; Anderson, Ebner, Messmann, and Schwall each registered two hits.
» Green Bay pitchers faced 35 Robert Morris hitters in the game, allowing nine ground balls and six fly balls while striking out one.
» Anderson led the Phoenix at the plate, going 2-for-3 with her lone RBI being a home run.
» Robert Morris was led offensively by Courtney Poulich, who went 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs.
» Madison Brown led the Colonials’ pitching staff, throwing three innings of one-run ball.
