The District of Houston has chosen a familiar figure to be its next chief administrative officer.
Gerald Pinchbeck, who served in that capacity from 2018 to 2021, returns as of July 15, 2025.
He fills the gap created when Ryan Nitchie, hired last fall, left the District earlier this year for a similar position with the Village of Burns Lake.
Pinchbeck left Houston to become the District of Vanderhoof’s chief administrative officer before moving on to become the Cariboo Regional District’s human resources advisor in Williams Lake. He then added communications manager to his responsibilities there and returns to Houston from Williams Lake.
Prior to his hiring as the Houston chief administrative officer in 2018, Pinchbeck served as the District’s corporate services officer beginning in 2015.
District of Houston mayor Shane Brienen welcome Pinchbeck’s return at a time when the community has embarked upon a strategy to lessen its dependence on the forest industry.
“His knowledge of our community, combined with his proven leadership and dedication to local government makes him an excellent fit to help guide the District into the future,” Brienen said in a release.
One of the key District of Houston projects crafted during Pinchbeck’s first tenure in Houston was the plan to revitalize the downtown core.
The District has had five either temporary or permanent chief administrative officers since Pinchbeck first left in 2021.
