As NFL trade deadline buzz picks up, Dallas Cowboys fans can essentially mark one name off their wishlist.
The Las Vegas Raiders have informed star pass rusher Maxx Crosby that they are not planning on trading him, a person with knowledge of the player’s situation told The Dallas Morning News. Crosby is also not asking to be traded.
The Tuesday night development came as rumors swirled that connected Crosby to the Cowboys. Crosby has area ties as he played at Colleyville Heritage as a high schooler. He would also fill an area of need for the Cowboys at pass rusher.
Crosby notably signed a massive extension with the Raiders ahead of the 2025 season. Crosby’s three-year, $106.5 million extension includes $91.5 million in guarantees.
With the Nov. 4 trade deadline quickly approaching, the Cowboys have held internal discussions about potential trades but haven’t reached out to teams about prospective players, a person with knowledge of the front office’s thinking told The News.
At various points this season, owner/general manager Jerry Jones has been asked about the team’s interest in trading for a player to bolster the team’s struggling defense. The Cowboys have draft capital they could use after acquiring two first-round picks when they traded Micah Parsons to the Green Bay Packers.
After Sunday’s win over the Washington Commanders, Jones said Dallas’ defensive performance didn’t spike his interest in a potential trade for a defensive player.
“Not at all. I feel just as inclined or not inclined, really, I’m not trying to be any way. I don’t have anything in front of me right now that I’m interested in. I haven’t noodled up something that I might be interested in.”
Staff Writer Calvin Watkins contributed to this report.
