Alejandro also unveils the title of his highly anticipated upcoming album
The Hispanic Heritage Foundation has announced that internationally acclaimed Latin Grammy Award-winning and four-time Grammy nominated Puerto Rican superstar Rauw Alejandro as the recipient of the 2025 Hispanic Heritage Award for Vision.
Rauw will be celebrated at the Warner Theater in Washington, D.C., on September 4th, with the ceremony later airing nationally on PBS, honoring his groundbreaking contributions to Latin music and his role in shaping its global future.
“As an artist in constant motion, Rauw Alejandro embodies the very essence of the Vision Award, bold in creativity, future-focused in his global impact, and unapologetically original in everything he does,” states HHF President and CEO Antonio Tijerino. “His work is not just music, it’s a movement that confirms what Latin artists mean to the world.”
“’Cosa Nuestra’ has always been my way of representing my island, my culture, and my people—wherever they may be. Every detail—the beats, the visuals, the dancing—reflects part of our Puerto Rican roots and our connection with other sister cultures, because we’ve been shaping the history of music for a long time. During this month of celebration, I’m filled with pride to keep elevating our story and our vibe from a special place,” Alejandro shares. “Thank you for this Vision Award at the Hispanic Heritage Awards. It’s an honor to join the list of incredible creatives who have received this recognition. This is just the beginning… with my next project, Capítulo 0, I want to keep showcasing not only Puerto Rico, but the full essence of the Caribbean.”
From the moment Rauw Alejandro burst onto the scene, he has consistently garnered a wealth of both critical acclaim and barrier-breaking chart/streaming accomplishments as one of the world’s most prolific artists – with forward-looking albums arriving every year. His six-time RIAA Latin platinum debut album, Afrodisíaco, released in November 2020, earned Rauw his first Grammy nomination for Best Urban Music Album and also garnered him a Latin Grammy nomination for Best New Artist. His 2021 follow-up, Vice Versa, continued his rise with No. 1 debuts on Billboard’s and Apple Music’s Latin Album charts.
Another clear sign of the music world’s respect for Rauw’s creativity is apparent from the likewise standout artists looking to join him as collaborators, including Pharrell Williams, Shakira, Selena Gomez, and others.
Most recently, Rauw’s fifth studio album Cosa Nuestra saw release in November of 2024, scoring landmark No. 1 global debuts on both Apple Music and Spotify, positioning him among the few Latin artists to achieve this distinction. The album also reached No. 1 on Billboard’s Latin Albums chart and No. 6 on the Billboard 200, further solidifying his crossover success.
The Hispanic Heritage Awards (HHAs) were established by The White House in 1988 to commemorate the creation of Hispanic Heritage Month in America and are often recognized as “America’s Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration” and supported by 40 national, Latino-serving institutions. The HHAs recognize Latino accomplishment, vision, and cultural pride.
