ATLANTA, Ga. – It was a dominant day for the UAB beach volleyball team at the Diggin’ Duals on Friday. The Blazers swept both matches, defeating Mercer (4-18) and North Alabama (14-10) by identical 5-0 scores.
In the opening match against Mercer, freshman Ava Grace Knott set a school record for wins by a freshman, earning her 21st victory of the season. The previous record was shared by current teammates Claudia Stockard and Jasmine Haas. Knott and her partner, Olivia Chychrun, are the reigning Conference USA Pair of the Week.
Haas also reached a milestone in the win over Mercer, recording her 80th career victory on Court 1.
UAB carried its momentum into the second match, sweeping North Alabama, 5-0. The Blazers have now taken 32 of their last 35 matches and won eight consecutive games.
The Diggin’ Duals conclude Saturday with matches against Georgia State (12-14) at 9:17 a.m. and South Florida (17-5) at 1:30 p.m.
